To start your child’s dancing lessons at the Janie Christy School of Dance is more than learning basic ballet positions- a plie’, an arabesque or grand jete’.
Your daughter may tiptoe through an imaginary spring garden watering roses, skip with her teddy bear to a spring picnic, or picture herself as an orange, purple or golden autumn leaf, spinning, twirling and whirling as she falls from a tree to the ground.
Your son may be a Texas cowboy, galloping and leaping across the prairie, leading a marching band, or bowing to his princess, after escorting her to the ball.
Janie Christy’s preschool dance program, for 3 and 4 year old boys and girls, develops and nurtures children’s imagination, while exposing them to fun songs and a variety of classical composers.
Kindergarten children continue to learn ballet basics and may start tap classes, further developing rhythm.
Elementary children’s classes are grouped by age and technique level.
Jazz classes are offered in 2nd grade.
Preparation for pointe classes, as well as modern dance and drill team prep are offered to intermediate and advanced students.
A continuation of classical ballet is encouraged, as it builds strength, flexibility and coordination, along with a required self discipline and commitment from young dancers.
